It is so busy. I cannot keep up with recording all those great memories. The previous post also grew so big that I decided to continue in a new one for another few days. Lucky for me my wife is capturing what is happening. Is it so busy in all families at this time of the year? Or is it just us?
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I or my family use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Day over day … continued
7 December

This year my wife got her first ever Advent Calendar from our daughters. So far it was only her preparing Advent Calendars for them. They were always filled with many small things so they could have lots of fun till Christmas. As the girls already grown up they decided to get one from Rituals for my wife so she could also enjoy the happiness. She usually sleeps longer but it happened multiple times this year she jumped out of bed filled with excitement to open up the door to see that day’s surprise.
8 December

We have a few family traditions during the preparations for Christmas. We try to keep these traditions every year. We try to visit at least one Christmas fair each year. One of the evenings we just sit into the car and drive around to see all the lights and decorations in a randomly picked neighborhood.
Another tradition is that we go together and have an all you can eat dinner so we had to pick a restaurant for this year. My elder daughter and her friend recommended one in Gouda. That is what we booked.
9 December

Second Sunday of Advent so we lit the second candle. We are really getting into the Christmas mood. As some battery operated decoration started to fade I went around the house and replaced the batteries as needed.
10 December

When I’m on the ice, I am at home.
We still did not have snow but there are many closed ice skating places. Let’s go ice skating. I do not like to ice skate but the girls love it. It always turn out to be great fun. Sometimes they land or their back side. At other times some other fun but they always return with a big smile on their faces.
11 December – Hot Chocolate Day

In this cold weather what could be better than some hot chocolate? You do not need much for the recipe. Some Belgian chocolate, hot milk, some cinnamon and a few marshmallow and you are done. As you most probably realized I am more of a coffee person but on this day I also added chocolate to my coffee.
My wife bakes and she bakes a lot so it was no question to have some gingerbread figures ready to eat with the hot chocolate. In my work December is one of the busiest period but I have to take a break. Drinking some nice warm drink worth almost like a good night sleep just don’t rush. Now that I wrote it down I just got thirsty for a good coffee. Have you ever tried to add Chokomel to your coffee instead of milk? Chokomel is a drink available everywhere in the Netherlands. You can drink it cold and hot as well. You can add some whipped cream on top to even further improve it.
12 December

We are half way to Christmas. Christmas music is coming out of all radio channels so it is an overload. If you’re getting bored with some of them try changing channels. Then you’ll realize it is almost impossible to avoid Christmas music at this time of the year.
Christmas loading …
I was still busy with work so I decide to drink some more coffee. I never really understood why it is so popular to drink all those huge cups of coffee. I mostly drink espresso at home. When I visit our headquarters in California I drink the American way. Huge cups with tons of water with coffee taste as we say. This year while I was drinking my coffee it all became clear. Drinking big cups of coffee gives you a longer break so you can sit back and enjoy longer. Ok I need to get away from my laptops for today. My working hours ended over an hour and I kept on pushing it to get things done. I’ll continue with the memories on the next post.
Materials and tools used on the above pages
These memory pages are all created on a nice Christmas themed carton as the paper. Many technic were used to decorate so they remind me more to scrapbook. I am sure when all will be finished they will end up a small holder with rings.
Stabilo Fineliner
They come in different colors and the same goes to picking them as for color pencils. The more colors the better.
Color pencil sets from Faber-Castell
We found these pencils really good quality and we highly recommend them. The more colors you have the easier you color your pages.
Sakura Pigment Liner Micron pens
Sakura pens are top quality and really easy to work with. You find these pens in all different colors and sizes. A few colors and some different sizes from the blacks will help you with all your drawings.
Staedtler Pigment Liners
Another alternative to the Sakura Pigment Liners is from Staedtler. My wife found these the same quality so she is recommending them as well.
Christmas Paper Pads
You can find all different sheets of paper so you can cut them to the size of your journal. On many of the December daily memories pages my wife uses these kind of papers.
